Northwestern Association of the CABC
The Northwestern Association is one of  21 associations that make up the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches (CABC) in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador. Our Association is made up of 33 Baptist Churches in Carleton, Victoria, and Madawaska counties.

Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches (CABC)
Our Convention is made up of over 500 churches who partner together to accomplish ambitious ministry objectives in Atlantic Canada and beyond. We are Atlantic Canada’s largest ministry partnership and most comprehensive ministry organization.

Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM)
The CABC is one of four conventions that form Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM), including over 1,000 Baptist churches across Canada. We are one of the most multi-cultural denominations in Canada, worshiping in 32 different languages on any given Sunday in almost as many diverse worship styles.

Through our affiliation with CABC and CBM, we are also affiliated with:
Baptist World Alliance
Evangelical Fellowship of Canada
Canadian Council of Christian Charities
North American Baptist Fellowship

While we are Baptist in denomination, we are Judeo-Christian in faith and religion. Therefore, we recognize that we minister together with evangelical churches of other denominations who also believe in one God, and His one mediator -- Jesus Christ. We are pleased to be able to join in ministry with other churches in our area. For example, we have a combined Good Friday morning service with the local United Church of Canada and Anglican Church. We also support each other and combine resources for such occasions as musical concerts, weddings, funerals, and annual baccalaureate service at Carleton North High School.

Other Churches in the Florenceville-Bristol Community:
Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd
Bristol Free Will Baptist Church
Burnham Road Cathedral
Faith Memorial United Church of Canada
Family Worship Center
St. Leo's Catholic Church
Tabernacle Life Church
Trinity Wesleyan Church

Baptist Denominational Background in Atlantic Canada

In 1905-06, three streams of Atlantic Baptists came together to form the United Baptist Convention of the Maritime Provinces, (which became the United Baptist Convention of the Atlantic Provinces in 1963). The three streams were the Baptist Convention of the Maritime Provinces (also known as Regular Baptist, or in Carleton County as Calvinist Baptist), the Free Christian Baptist Conference of New Brunswick, and the Free Baptist Conference of Nova Scotia. Other small denominations also merged to form larger denominations with the term "united" in their name. In Canada,  the term "United Church" has generally referred to The United Church of Canada, which was formed in 1925 by the union of Congregational, Methodist, and Presbyterian denominations. Therefore, the term "United Baptist" became a somewhat confusing term to people outside Atlantic Canada -- is it United or Baptist, or some sort of hybrid? Therefore, in 2001, the United Baptist Convention of the Atlantic Provinces changed its name to the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches.
